Prenatal and Post-partum Massage

Deep Tissue Massage

Primary Therapies Practiced:

Meridith holds a certification in Prenatal massage from the Oregon School of Massage.  She is also a trained doula who has participated in numerous births both in and out of hospitals.   A prenatal massage can bring an increased sense of connection between mother and baby.  The session may include a cocoa butter belly massage to relax the overly stretched abdominal muscles, postural assessments and discussion on home care with various stretches and exercises to promote a comfortable pregnancy. Depending on your stage in pregnancy, the massage may be a side-lying massage.

Swedish Relaxation Massage

      Benefits of Regular Massage:

Swedish massage is the manipulation of superficial and deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue using various techniques to enhance function, aid in the healing process, decrease muscle reflex activity, inhibit motor-neuron excitability, promote relaxation and well-being, and as a regular part of a health maintenance program. Other techniques used during your session may include stretching and reflexology.

A  deep tissue massage works the deepest layer of muscle tissue, tendons and fascia (the protective layer surrounding our muscles, bones and joints.)   This type of massage is beneficial for releasing tension or strained muscles due to over use, exercise or injuries. Other techniques incorporated may include neuromuscular therapy which,  focuses on trigger points, cupping which, increases blood flow, and Myofascial release therapy to unwind the bound connective tissue.

My name is Meridith Bradshaw and I am a licensed massage therapist in Corvallis Oregon who has been in practice since 2005.  It is with great pleasure that I am able to extend my hands to aid in the health and healing of others through therapeutic intuitive touch.  Listening is the first step in massage.  Not only is it important that I listen closely to my clients words but that I listen through my hands as well.  I facilitate a process that includes my clients needs, my own intuition, and our mutual vision for health.  My massage techniques are varied as I tune in to my clients needs while working with the body to encourage opening, letting go and general relaxation.  I bring to my massage practice, an education in nursing from the OHSU Monmouth campus. This education has allowed me to be an even greater resource in the health and healing of my clients. In addition to the therapies listed below I may also incorporate myofascial release, reflexology or other modalities as I see needed.
